The Right Way to Lose Belly Fat

You may have seen the commercials for diet pills that claim they can help you lose belly fat. Their pills cost a lot of money, but common sense tells me that if they have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, then I'd be better off without them. Many people have a need to lose belly fat, but is taking an unknown diet pill the answer? The ads seem pretty convincing, but remember that the aim of advertisements is to sell the product - at ALL costs.

For those with belly fat, it is important to them to lose the fat around the belly first. This is great in theory, but it never works that way. Each body stores fat differently, and if the belly fat was the first to come on when you gained weight, there are no rules stating that it will be the first off when you lose those pounds. As a matter of fact, it could very well be the last to go when you diet.

Prepare to Lose that Belly Fat

Exercises will help you tone certain parts of the body, but they generally work on the muscle tone underneath, and not the fat hanging out on top of the muscle. Where ab exercises will help is in that they will increase your muscle tone which in turn burns the fat quicker. So, although losing weight is key to help you get rid of the belly fat, abdominal exercises are an important part of the plan as well.

Carrying fat around the belly is more dangerous to your health (heart and organs) than if the extra fat were on your hips, rear, and thighs. Some women and men have an apple shape and some have a pear. Some are just big all over. Although it is true that you should lose belly fat to maintain health, it is also important for everyone to maintain a healthy weight. At the end of the day, there are no magic pills - it usually takes a lot of hard work and determination to get down to a healthy weight.

For those that want to try a pill to see if it will help lose belly fat, please talk to a doctor before you begin. Pills can have great benefit, but for some people with medical conditions, they can be dangerous. This is especially true if you are taking any kind of prescription drug, or if you are on birth control of any sort. It may be important to lose belly fat for the sake of your health, but there is no sense in making things worse. Your doctor may have another answer, and it may be diet and exercise. You can't discount the tried and true methods that have helped so many.
